Sushi Magnets: All the stick, none of the taste

sushi_magnets.jpg

Don’t act surprised, these magnetic fish from the East come to us courtesy of the same guys who thought it would be a great idea to have a humping dog as a USB thumbdrive. Yes it’s funny, yes it’s cute but damn it, that stuff gets old in about four fracking* minutes. If this kind of crap interests you go ahead and throw away your eleven dollars over here. Enjoy the magnets and thanks for all the fish.

[Thanks Dick McV]

*Because of prolonged exposure to Battlestar Galactica this writer has found it necessary to use the term “frack” in place of otherwise offensive expletives

A sexy laptop stand from who would have thunk it, Logitech

logitech alto express 1

Sure, it may just be a piece of molded plastic but it’s a sexy mold to say the least. The new Logitech Alto Express keeps a slim profile while remaining very ergonomic. How so you ask? Have a looksie at the diagram below.

Explains everything doesn’t it? Truth be told, it is technically bad for your wrists to use a laptop unelevated so having a stand isn’t a bad idea. Of course, this particular stand will cost you $50. Still need one?

They were jealous of those electric toothbrushes

Wednesday, June 13th, 2007

WildCharger

For years my cellphone, iPod, camera, and Nintendo DS looked at my Sonicare toothbrush with envy. Everytime I placed it back on its little stand, I would hear hisses in the background from jealous gadgets wishing they weren’t tethered to a wall. Starting this July, those gadgets can rejoice because induction charging will finally come to market.

One of the first induction pads will come from WildCharge. Their charging pad is a Nicole Richie 0.1″ thin. All you do is place your battery drained gadgets on top of the pad. It’s the very same tech found in better electric toothbrushes and in case you didn’t know, it ain’t magic plastic. It’s based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The only downside is each device will need an adapter. I can only imagine how much that’ll cost. Hell, we don’t even know how much the pad itself costs. Oh well, at least it’s one step closer to Star Trek.

Manufacturers are ready with their iPhone accessories

Belkin iPhone acrylic case

They’re so ready to pounce. They’re just itchin’ to release the throngs of cases, covers, transmitters, screen protectors, cables, and peripherals upon the masses. Belkin being a long time iPod accessory maker decided to give the public a glimpse of it’s first wave of iPhone accessories. The acrylic iPhone case looks to be a winner for early adopters with the ability to prop the phone up for optimal viewing. Although acrylic is tough, I hope somebody makes a skin tight silicone case for the iPhone. I don’t want any bulky plastic in my pocket.

iPod Shuffle now works as headgear

Monster Ifreeplay 01

For the iPod shufflers who hate dangling cables from their ears, give the Monster iFreePlay (seriously did they have to do use the ‘i’ prefix?) a looksee. You simple jack your Shuffle into the side dock of the headphones which are those wrap around the head types. The headphones have a recessed cutout so you’ll still have access to all controls. Priced at $50 which is a little steep in my opinion but then again, this is Monster we’re talking about.

For all you Wii-mote slinging hooligans

Lcd Safety Shield

It was only a matter of time before somebody decided to capitalize on all the broken plasma and LCD screens from inept Wii-mote slinging hooligans. Sure, Nintendo may have recalled and reissued better wrists straps but for those who think wrist straps are for weenies, I give you the Safety Shield. Big enough to fit up to a 46″ screen, strong enough to withstand a flying projectile.

No price yet and the manufacturer has a questionable website but it’s an idea long over due.

Real men open a beer with their iPod Shuffle

bevy.jpg

Of course if you even consider yourself a man and own a Shuffle, you might want to do some serious looking into what else makes you so damn rugged. Unprotected Shuffle owners looking for a sleek and easy case can take a look at the Bevy, a new product that just happens to be “Representing a remarkable combination of function for the thirsty music lover.” Thirsty music lover? Come on, that’s just reaching.

The Bevy retails for $15.00 USD, comes in every Shuffle color and will even show up at (gasp!) Apple Stores nationwide. Check out more on morphie’s product page.

A place for your iPod to call home sweet home

Griffin Airdock-1

It’s called the AirDock brought to you by the company that sounds like a mythical creature - Griffin. Yes it’s yet ANOTHER docking station for the iPod but Griffin has managed to price it with two numbers we all love for more reasons than one; $69.

It’s a place for put your iPod. A place to recharge its battery. A place to sync with your computer. A place to plug in your iPod while you enjoy its music.

That sounds real snazzy but they forgot to mention the RF remote and video playback which uses a proprietary port but Griffin was nice enough to include that cable in as well. My only question is where does the “Air” part come in? I was hoping somebody had finally created a hovering iPod docking station.

The cutest widdle iddy biddy iPod Nano case ever

Boomwave Ipodnano Cases

Boomwave’s Bearaphim iPod Nano case is just too cute for words. Who doesn’t like bears with angel wings? Especially when those wings double as a spool to keep your earbud cables neat and tidy. Even though they’ve been out for awhile, it “bears” reiterating just how cute they are. Fortunately they’re also functional; each one molded from high grade silicon. The only improvement they could possibly make is to mechanize those wings so it can fly back into my hand should I drop my Nano.

Gotta catch ‘em all now for just $19.90.
