Today, Adobe announced the public release for the beta versions of two of their much wanted programs, Adobe Integrated Runtime (AIR):
Adobe AIR™ is a cross-operating system application runtime that allows developers to use HTML/CSS, Ajax, Adobe Flash® and Adobe Flex™ to extend rich Internet applications (RIAs) to the desktop. New features in the Adobe AIR beta include an embedded local database, PDF support, enhanced capabilities for JavaScript developers, and deeper integration with Adobe Flex. The beta version of Adobe AIR and the Adobe AIR Software Developer’s Kit (SDK) can be downloaded for free.

and Adobe Flex:
Flex 3 gives developers the power to extend the reach of their RIAs beyond the browser to the desktop using the new Adobe® Integrated Runtime (AIR), formerly code-named Apollo (see separate press release, also available today). Using the new Flex Builder™ 3 and Adobe AIR™ software, now developers can create more engaging, higher-performing applications that run both in the browser and on the desktop.
Currently, Adobe has downloadable betas available for Windows and Mac, and plans to update the programs several times in the upcoming weeks, so download these apps and help them fix their bugs and improve their products for the better.
Adobe AIR can be downloaded from here.
Adobe Flex 3 can be found here.
