AT&T called me late last night and said: Here’s looking at free wifi, kid.

**UPDATE: EFFECTIVE NOW**
AT&T customers will be lucky enough to have free use of Wi-Fi hotspots in 10,000 locations across the country. Anyone who subscribes to the Pro, Elite, and FastAccess plans can access the hotspots that are located in hundreds of airports, coffee shops, restaurants, Barnes and Noble stores, and McDonald’s.

For those lower plan people who are still members of AT&T’s phone service, an extra $1.99 per month will allow them to take part in the convenience. Other customers who wish to use the Wi-Fi but do not use AT&T can still purchase a plan that costs a whopping daily fee of $7.99.

According to statistics, nearly 13 million customers have broadband services through AT&T, which means that encouraging customers to upgrade or add the Wi-Fi plan will bring in huge piles of cash for AT&T.

Free Joost invites!

Thursday, May 3rd, 2007

joost.jpg

Hello all NextLust readers. I have 999 Joost beta invites and would like to share them, since I do not have 999 friends already. If you would like one please comment below and I will try to do my best to send them out to you. I need your email and your name (if you don’t want to reveal your name for some reason, give me a title that you would identify in an email, like Bert Rentner or something).

Also, if you don’t want your email displayed, just enter the correct one when you comment, since I can check it another way. Keep in mind that this method does takes me longer, so don’t do it unless you are scared of webcrawlers (they are kind of scary). First 999 people get them, but don’t worry if you don’t get one, ask anyways, since L.T. has invites as well.

Wait a minute, HTC giving free WinMo 6 upgrades?

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Htc Winmo6 Freeupgrade

Never saw this one coming so it’s nice to be surprised. HTC just revealed their official Windows Mobile 6 upgrade plans and guess what? They’re offering free upgrades to select HTC smartphones. Select meaning the HTC Advantage, HTC TyTn, HTC S620 (aka Dash), HTC P3300 and the HTC 4350.

So what’s the catch? There is none - no hidden fees or contracts. The only stipulation is that your “select” device be OEM and not carrier branded. Upgrades will start rolling out one by one this month with all 5 devices getting the upgrade by June. Check this link frequently to see when your appropriate upgrade will be available to download.

Isn’t it nice to get something for free?

Free push email for you, you and yes even you!

Push Consilient
Ooh it’s free push email for everyone brought to you by Consilient. For those not in the know, push email is an online server side solution that instantaneously sends (pushes) email from any POP or IMAP account directly to your phone. That way, your phone doesn’t spend precious battery juice periodically checking mail.

So what’s the catch? For now, Consilient’s push service only works with a hand full of phones. You can only configure 5 email accounts which is more than enough and their online configuration tools are a little haphazard. But hey, it’s free and it works.

Incentive to jump on the Vista train

free wireless

Here’s a useful tidbit I read over at ZDNet. If you’re an early adopter of “The Vista”, yes that’s what I’m calling it, you get an added bonus. For both those in the UK and the US there’ll be 3 months of free wireless.

In the UK the service will be provided by The Cloud and here in the states by T-Mobile. The word is that you don’t have to provide any credit card details. Free wifi for a quarter of a year doesn’t sound that shabby as an extra if you were planning on getting the vista anyways. The free trial service ends April 30. Hit the Link for the original article.
