iriver NV is so slick that it’s sic

iriver nv

First off, this device is South Korea only. I had to preface with that to save any disappointment experienced after reading what all the iriver NV can do.

It’s billed as a multimedia navigation system and by far the most featured packed. The design is just sic. The 7″, 800 x 480 screen is just sic. It supports every video and audio format - that’s just sic. Like FM music? No problem, this sic device has it. The jog dial has an embedded OLED screen to indicate function and directional icons when in navigation mode. My god that’s sic! Last but not least, the slick sic remote makes it easier than ever to push buttons in style.

The Helio Ocean makes Sidekick users seethe with envy

Helio Ocean 01
And why wouldn’t they? The new Helio Ocean is everything the Sidekick 3 should have been. You’ve got a 2.4″ QVGA screen, unrestricted bluetooth 2.0, music, video, POP and IMAP with push-email support, 2 megapixel camera and GPS all running on a real 3G network. However the most impressive feature is the dual-sliding keypad revealing a QWERTY keyboard in one direction and a full numeric keypad in the other.

Just like other phones in Helio’s lineup, you’ve also got GPS enabled Google Maps with Buddy Beacon to locate all your friends, fast HTML web browsing, tight MySpace integration and stereo speakers.

So Sidekick users, I know you want it but you’ll have to wait a bit. This wave hits this spring for $295.

Do you get tired of always having to keep an eye on your kids? Wish someone else could do some of the work? Then Lo-jack the little buggers with these kicks with a built-in GPS system. This way you can surf the web for porn AND track your kids every movement via google maps. You can even set up a virtual “fence” that will trigger an alert if the shoes venture outside the area. It’s like a probation anklet for your family members that you just can’t trust.

From a company called GTX, which specialize in putting GPS devices into everyday items. Hooray for big brother!

What is Google Switch?

Saturday, January 20th, 2007

Tech lovers and bloggers are abuzz with postulations about what this could be. Is it a phone? A GPS? Or both? We know it’s called Google Switch, and that it’s some kind of joint effort between Samsung and Google. Here’s what Mobile Whack has to say about it:

Making its way around the web today is an image of what is claimed to be the product of a collaboration between Google and Samsung - the Google Switch mobile phone.
The authenticity of the photo and rumors have not yet been verified. If this does in fact turn out to be a Google mobile phone and not a Photoshop hoax, it could put a serious damper on the impending Apple iPhone launch in June.

Google and Samsung have teamed up in the past. Most recently, Samsung agreed to let Google install its software on their Ultra Edition 13.8 slider phone last month. That phone is super-slim, but nowhere near as thin as the one pictured in this photo. According to tipsters, the “Google Switch” has no on-board storage. That means all your applications are served up over the network, with new apps “attached” to your account via a web interface.
