The future of tech products is built upon today’s imagination, design, and inspiration. Concepts that allow consumers and manufacturers to see creative, novel, or utterly breathtaking products drive technology style and engineering forward. These are some of those concepts:
Renault Twingo
[Via Concept Carz]
Renault has chosen the 2006 Paris Motor Show to unveil Twingo Concept. Firmly grounded in a youth culture of sport, music and fashion, Twingo Concept is powered by the new turbocharged 1.2 16V TCE 100 engine. Twingo Concept boasts a host of multimedia features and a high level of equipment. At only 3.6 meters long, Twingo Concept appeals to customers who have a taste for both attractive, sporty city cars and new communication technologies.

Nike FeelFree
[Via Hannes Seeberg]
Nike FeelFree - solution to a modern worlds needs, where stress and mental health problems interfere with a persons ability to function effectively throughout the day. It uses advanced technology to read brain frequencies and change it towards the applied stimulus, without having a side-effect on users hearing.

Nokia Sirocco
[Via Nokia]
A smooth sliding mechanism reveals a high-resolution camera (2 Megapixel) and the intuitive and ergonomic keypad. Further “inner beauty” highlights of the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold include a stunning color screen (up to 262K colors), and a wide array of messaging functionalities. The elegance of the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold is also complemented by a coordinating desk stand and color-matching Bluetooth headset.

Radia Phone
[Via Michael Laut]
The Radia phone concept expresses simplicity in form and sophistication in function and user interface. The outer rim, which is made of brushed aluminum makes both a refined professional statement. The touch-display is large enough to read and display many types of information, yet small enough to maintain a pocket-sized device. Simplicity is also expressed in the power button, which is flanked by the earpiece speaker, and balanced by the microphone which is 180 degrees around the perimeter.

Currently at Volvo Cars working as an interaction designer I find it stimulating and enjoyable to solve concrete problems. Many components are part of the interaction design process and I think the range of variation makes the process exciting. I have a good understanding of designing for a combination of hardware and software products.

The Terabyte Disc
[Via Fosfor]
The demonstration attendees were amazed to see this breakthrough which showed Mempile’s capability of recording at least 500GB of data on what appears to be a simple plastic transparent disc – 300GB more than the announced roadmap of competing blue-laser technologies in the year 2010.

Darklabel
[Via Yanko Design]
Darklabel | Revol
The idea of Revol is to portray it as a stylish timepiece. As such, the conventional hour and minute hands are replaced with revolving disc. The clock face is sculpted in a slight cone shape to give it more dimension. Main frame is encased in polycarbonate with a gloss finish while the strap is of matt silicone to give it a nice contrast. Numeric markings are removed to reinforce its simplistic style.

Darklabel | Retroxis
As far as mobile phones are concerned, there are certain inevitable desires such as dimensions, weight and style. Retroxis reflects a retro approach towards design with clean aesthetics, optimum controls and functions. It is encased in high polished polycarbonate renowned for its lightweght and toughness and the invisible OLED display silently hides away when inactive to make your phone look clean and stylish.

This phone comes with 100 MB of internal memory, a 16 million color OLED, SD card slot, 3 megapixel camera, and MP3 player capabilities. The photos come from designer Tobias Hornof who hails from Austria.

The Butterfly Cell Phone
[Via Yanko Design and Andrew Kim]
The Butterfly has a very unique design. The device uses a “tilting” slide mechanism that elegantly reveals the display from below the player which slides out at a comfortable 15 degree angle. All “physical buttons were removed and replaced with a touch screen on the front of the player. The touch screen interacts with the main screen to give a seamless interface between the device and the user. The device is also coated with silver nanoparticles to prevent collection of bacteria.
The device also functions as a GSM phone with Wi-Fi connectivity. The connection to the web opens up to many opportunities. Students will be able to get the most recent updates from the school, get access to school resources, IM friends, share media, email and browse the web. Built-in organization programs will be also automatically updated to match the official school calender.
