It’s thought that wood provides the absolute best in audio quality. It’s why all the great instruments are made from wood. From grand pianos to violins, if you want to top of the line, it’s made out of natural wood. JVC has decided it’s time to do the same for speakers. The cone on your average speaker is made out of paper. Here? Birch. That huge step up in material should provide a very distinct difference when it comes to the quality of the wgat you hear. Unless you’re watching Independence Day, then there’s really no helping you.
Of course cutting edge doesn’t come even remotely cheap, with a retail price of $1299. Here’s a few more stats:
- Birch Wood Cone/Dome Diaphragms
- 2-Way, 3-Speaker Bass Reflex Design
- 10.5cm Wood Cone Woofer x 2 and 2cm Wood Dome Tweeter
- Edgewise-Wound 4-Layer Voice Coil for Woofer
- High-Energy Neodymium Magnets for Tweeter
- Screw-Type Gold-Plated Speaker Terminals
- Die-Cast Aluminium Speaker Frame
- CCA (Copper-Clad Aluminium) Voice Coil for Tweeter
- Impedance-6 ohms
- Frequency Range- 50Hz - 50kHz
- Sound Pressure Level- 84.5dB/W-m
- Crossover Frequency- 3.8kHz

They sound fantastic, shame I haven’t got the kind of money I need to get them.

This reminds me of Yamaha’s NS10’s - granted, that was in the professional audio world, but the price is similar

I have a pair of JVC Shelf speakers (SX-WD8) still in the box that i would sell for $800.00 for the pair.
