As a kid I always dreamed of driving a flying car like in the Jetsons…

Ok I lied, I was actually dreaming about chicks but wouldn’t it be really cool to drive around in a flying car?  Privately owned company Urban Aeronautics is developing a vehicle code-named the “X-Hawk” that has the ability of flight.

The X-Hawk (as shown above) looks like something off the set of Minority Report.  It sports two twin fans at the rear of the vehicle that enable it to lift off the ground.  The initial idea behind the X-Hawk is that it would be used in urban rescue operations in places too dangerous for helicopters to operate in.  Company CEO Rafi Yoeli hopes to have a marketable version by 2010.

The bad news is that it might take a little digging around in your couch cushions to come up with enough bling to buy this bad boy.  A two seater version of the X-Hawk is set at a hefty pricetag of $1.5 million, while a 10 passenger version is projected at $3.5 million.  Maybe by 2010 the minimum wage will be up around 100k an hour and I’ll be able to afford one!
