RemoteBuddy is more popular than Mira.
NicePlayer is better than VLC.
Where is NewsFire and Quicksilver?

Hey guys, thank you for your comments. I know I am missing some must haves like Quicksilver and Houdah, but that’s what part 2 is for. Please just state what you would like to see added and you will be credited accordingly, I would like this is be a community effort and get the biggest, most valuable list out there on NextLust, thanks.

I love the list, but several of the programs are not “useful freeware apps … just floating around the internet waiting for you to give them a go” but instead apps that one must purchase to continue using or to use fully (e.g., Delicious Library and File Buddy).
Also I would recommend adding OpenOffice, NeoOffice, GiMP, Cyberduck, Text Wrangler, AbiWord, Flock, WriteRoom, Pathway, and Music IP Mixer (the free version).
Thanks for doing this.

I second the vote for TextMate and have to add SpamSieve. One tends to forget about it, but in the background it does a terrific job of keeping my inbox clean

Very good list, a lot of nice apps in her that I haven’t gotten a chance to check out.
Obvious missings I see are Quicksilver and an RSS (NetNewsWire Lite for me, because it’s free
)
And finally, MAIL.APP!
