For years my cellphone, iPod, camera, and Nintendo DS looked at my Sonicare toothbrush with envy. Everytime I placed it back on its little stand, I would hear hisses in the background from jealous gadgets wishing they weren’t tethered to a wall. Starting this July, those gadgets can rejoice because induction charging will finally come to market.
One of the first induction pads will come from WildCharge. Their charging pad is a Nicole Richie 0.1″ thin. All you do is place your battery drained gadgets on top of the pad. It’s the very same tech found in better electric toothbrushes and in case you didn’t know, it ain’t magic plastic. It’s based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. The only downside is each device will need an adapter. I can only imagine how much that’ll cost. Hell, we don’t even know how much the pad itself costs. Oh well, at least it’s one step closer to Star Trek.
