Yamaha Motor Co. aims to make biking a lot easier, and in turn takes away any aspect of physical fitness. The Yamaha PAS is a hybrid motorized bicycle with a large lithium-ion battery to assist riders through difficult passages. The motor senses the load on the pedals and adjusts motor power accordingly, so going up a big hill will take a lot less out of you. When less assistance is needed, like when going downhill, the motor stops helping as much and this helps it conserve battery power. The battery will also power lights for evening riding.

These bikes will be available in February in Japan, with prices ranging from 94,000 to 120,000 yen (about $800-$1000 by current exchange rates) depending on configuration.
